A Green Library
Came across this article about a green library. Also this website on green roofs. Wouldn't it be cool (literally) to have a library with a green roof. You could have a reading area on the roof and it would be like a park.

#23 Wrap-up
1. What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey? I really liked the visual assignments, Flickr and YouTube, but the whole aspect of blogging itself is really cool.
2. How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals? I plan to do more blogging and I hope to use some of the websites like RSS feeds, Delic.ious, etc. to enhance library services.
3. Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? That I was able to do this workshop—and do it quite easily surprised me. I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge that I plan to use in both my work and pleasure.
4. What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept? I’d like to have a workshop on Second Life and a workshop on creating wikis. I like the format and the concept of the Navigating New Technologies workshop and I think a similar type of workshop on Second Life will work quite well.
[5] If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate? Absolutely!

#22 NetLibrary and Project Gutenberg
Our college has access to quite a few ebooks. TCC has access to NetLibrary ebooks that were purchased as group packages through SOLINET. TCC also began purchasing individual ebook titles this last spring. We have not yet purchased eaudiobooks, but I expect that we will in the next year or two. The Project Gutenberg site has been cataloged and is accessible to our students from the online catalog.
We use the Project Gutenberg site quite a bit a home. My husband’s eyes are getting bad, so he has downloaded several titles from LibriVox. People volunteer to read books that are in the public domain and LibriVox provides free access to them. Additionally, my husband has downloaded text ebooks from Project Gutenberg and other free Internet sites, and has them read to him using software called TextAloud.

#21 Podcasts
I am trying to get a feed to the Diane Rehm Show which often has book reviews. I have no idea if I am doing this.
Later.....
Well I think I did what I was supposed to do for this exercise. I added an RSS feed to Bloglines for a podcast called Childrensbookradio. I do not know if this is a good book review podcast or not since I am at work and do not want to turn on my speakers to listen to it. This is really an exercise that I should have done at home.
